A week ago, Emami Cement Ltd agreed the takeover by Nuvoco Vistas Corp (Nirma group) for its cement operations in India. Emami Group is reportedly holding talks with UltraTech Cement and private equity firms KKR and Temasek Holding to sell assets from its cement business, Emami Cement, which is valued at INR50bn (US$725.4m). The Kolkata-based company is looking to reduce debt and concentrate on its core business. Emami Cement looks to expand limestone mining capacity

India’s Emami Cement Ltd has announced plans to expand its limestone mining capacity from 5.5Mta to 9Mta at its operations in Kukurdih of Raipur district, Chhattisgarh. The project is expected to be spread over 395ha of land and represent an investment of INR10bn (US$144.35m). While environmental clearance is currently being awaited, work on the expansion is projected to begin by May 2020.

Emami places order for third Gebr Pfeiffer cement mill

Emami Cement Ltd has placed an order for a Gebr Pfeiffer grinding plant which will be installed in Odisha state, India. The contract includes an MVR 6000 C-6 with an installed drive power of 6700kW. This mill will be capable of producing 335tph of OPC. The grinding plant will be designed to also allow fly ash cement and GGBS to be ground to a fineness of 3800cm²/g and 4000cm²/g according to Blaine, respectively.
